We Can Help.
Project Mothers and Schools
Project Mothers and Schools
Project (MAS) is dedicated to helping teen parents enrolled in San Antonio ISD schools, acquire the necessary support to complete high school, and become their child’s first teacher and role model. Teens receive homebound instruction during maternity leave, parenting classes and parent educators to help them identify and work towards goals.
Project MAS is dedicated to helping students realize their new purpose and create attainable goals. We are devoted to supporting teen parents academically and helping them plan for a brighter future. We equip them with the tools to be a successful, nurturing, loving and responsible parent. Our program helps teen parents strive towards realizing their goals and dreams. We are here for them as they begin this new phase of their life!
Our goal is to teach young families to create an environment that is nurturing, positive, safe and supportive for their families. Therefore, we provide services of homebound instruction, case management, parenting classes, and home visitation.
The Project MAS Compensatory Education Homebound Instruction (CEHI) program works alongside the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) to help teen mothers stay in school. During maternity leave, teen mothers receive instructional services in a group setting with TEA certified teachers. This allows students to remain current in schoolwork and attendance, and facilitates the student’s transition back into the school environment.
Project MAS provides:
We compose our own dreams. Each is unique. It belongs to the dreamer. Don’t be afraid of the space between your dreams and reality. If you dream it, you can make it so. – Belva Davis
Last year, 151 teen mothers and 109 of their children were served in the Project MAS program.
“This school helped me with my work and encouraged me to stay in school.”
– Ashley, 15-year-old teen mom
“The teachers explain until you understand and constantly check if you’re doing okay while working.”
– Destiny, 17-year-old teen mom
“The teachers and staff are really helpful and friendly. They always have time for you and help you with class work and other questions you have. Project MAS will always have a special place in my heart.”
– Elisa, 18-year-old teen mom
Project MAS (Mothers and Schools) receives referrals from SAISD’s Teen Parenting Program. Eligible teen mothers must be SAISD students. Teen moms usually join the program after the birth of their baby, but may also receive homebound education services during pregnancy in the case of pre-natal complications.
